The Story

A creature is brought to life; a blank consciousness awakes in the body of a grown man. But his own creator rejects him and tries to rid himself of all responsibility. Left to his own defences, he tries to find his place in the world. Does he even have a chance – without a language, without knowledge, without any sort of natural upbringing?
In our society, “otherness” is often met with fear and rejection, and the act of exclusion can have consequences. Those treated like monsters may begin to act like them. Do we then create our monsters ourselves?
The question of the responsibility of the creator – whether scientist, artist, author or person – is at the heart of this production. And with this adaptation of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”, the University Players are bringing a creation of their own to the stage for the first time.
