2012/2 SUMMER – RECENT TRAGIC EVENTS

It is 12th September 2001 and Waverly Wilson is waiting for her blind date, but she is distracted by „Recent Tragic Events“. This worst day for a blind date in recent history is the setting of an extraordinary play about the question: Are we in control of our lives? Far removed from terrorists or politics, Waverly and her date Andrew are faced with the very personal drama of her sister’s possible death in the Twin Towers. Things do not get any easier when Joyce Carol Oates comes to visit – as a sockpuppet! Funny, fast and with a touch of the absurd, this play offers a unique take on existential questions of chance and self-determination and a thought-provoking theatrical response to the events of 9/11.
