2003/2 SUMMER – ROMEO AND JULIET
by William Shakespeare
Audimax, Von-Melle-Park 4, 20146 Hamburg
For never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
Romeo and Juliet may well be the greatest love story in theatre history. Since its first performance more than 400 years ago, theatregoers have been fascinated by the fate of the two „star-cross’d lovers“. But the most amazing aspect of the play is its timelessness. What was true for medieval Verona might well be imagined in any twenty-first century background: That the hate between two opposed parties should destroy a great love affair is universally true and tragic.
